An open reduction and plate fixation of the fracture was performed without complications. A Cock-up plaster splint was fitted to protect the incision and the surgical repair. Jackson was instructed to keep the splint dry and to elevate his hand as much as possible to reduce swelling.

Jackson was prescribed 10 mg hydrocodone / 325 mg acetaminophen pain medicine for 3 days and scheduled to return to the surgery center in 10 days to have his splint and sutures removed.
