Current Issue Patient 3 has been having pain while urinating and has been producing cloudy urine specimens. This indicates that she has developed a urinary tract infection (UTI) while in the hospital.
History Patient 3 is a 76-year-old female with several health issues, including severe asthma, arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and GERD. She was admitted into the hospital for a scheduled surgery to remove part of her colon due to a large number of benign polyps discovered during a routine colonoscopy. During her stay, she required IV saline and a bladder catheter for the first 2 days and is undergoing occupational and physical therapy.
