Current Issue Patient 4 was recovering well, but has developed a cough and wheeze to her breathing in the last several days. She appears to be developing bronchitis or another respiratory tract infection as she is coughing up thick phlegm with a greenish-brown color.
History Patient 4 is a 34 year old female that suffered a spinal injury due to a car accident when she was 20. She has had several long stays in the the hospital including rehabilitative services. She is in the hospital currently for a laminectomy, a surgical procedure to allow the nerves more room to move freely and allow her to walk easier. While in the operating room, she receives IV saline with a muscle relaxant along with the more typical anesthesia.
