Build (What)
The Build step is essential in determining What the partnership team will work on together. What project will they pursue? Effective partnership teams collaborate to develop various project options and solutions that achieve the team’s mutual goals.
Use the following prompts to guide your thinking about what your team will accomplish.
- Identify projects and solutions. Brainstorm ways your team can answer your guiding question. What partnership models currently exist at partner locations, and could they be replicated for this context? What can you create together as a team that creates synergy toward the goal? Envision what a successful partnership could look like for all entities involved.
- Co-create a pilot project! Identify one or two small goals your team wants to achieve this year around a proposed project. Start small and measure progress.
- Prepare students. Help students prepare for the partnership experience. Share information or have students research the organization you are partnering with. Have students practice professional communication by doing mock-interviews or presenting in class.
